Range: for youth app

During the school year, youth get daily meals at the school cafeteria, but during the summer months only 1 in 6 who eat lunch at school take advantage of free programs when school is out. Government agencies, schools, nonprofits, and community members are working hard to promote the programs that feed youth during the summer. Range is part of that effort.

If you work with youth or interact with families in need, use Range to increase visibility to the neighborhood sites that provide this crucial service. Summer meal programs provide free lunches to kids 18 and under in your community when school is out. Tell others about Range —librarians, clergy, social workers, physicians, parks and rec counselors—and how they can help families find free meals this summer.

Data from WhyHunger.org, a database of federal and grassroots nutrition programs, powers Range to locate reliable sources of healthy and free meals. We believe putting this app in the hands of many will increase the numbers of youth who are fed.

Download Range to locate the nearest sites serving free meals, and use the app to get directions, share information via text or email, and learn about key services the site offers. The app is free and available for Android, Apple, and Windows phones. For more information visit: http://www.caravanstudios.org/#!range/c1ht6
